Figure 8 Dribble Drill: Spread the legs apart and dribble the basketball in a figure eight form, around and through the legs while looking forward. Increase the speed as time progresses. This is a great drill I perform daily with my players. I find it to be one of the best ball handling drills known.

Coaching basketball drills also involve perfecting vertical leap in a very significant way. Such drills involve focusing on improving playing the game with better defense, grabbing more rebounds and achieving goals. Here are three ways of basketball ball drills that can improve your vertical leap significantly.

You can start with ball handling. If you decide to go this route, you'll need one ball handling program that includes a system of drills that keeps advancing as your kids get better.

Around The World: Standing with one ball in both hands, begin circling it around the waist, legs and head. Bend and separate the legs, circle the ball around each leg. This drill helps to obtain a better "feel" for the ball while exercising hand coordination with speed.

This is also something you want to push your partner on. Push each other to work hard at shooting. Jump high on your shots to get them off. Get off the ground quick. Really get into the zone as if you're in a game. Then when it's showtime you'll notice a big difference. Because you already practiced it.

Keep your heart healthy by enjoying regular aerobic exercise. You will feel better and look better if you include about 15 to 20 minutes of aerobic exercise in your fitness program at least 3 days a week. As your stamina and endurance improves, you can gradually work your way up to 4-5 days a week and 30 minutes or more per workout session. Keep challenging yourself by increasing your activity level by 5-10 percent each week, and make sure you vary your workouts to keep your body from adapting to the routine, as well as to prevent boredom. Walking, riding a bicycle (stationary or outdoors) swimming, dancing, running or jogging and climbing stairs will get your heart pumping and your lungs working more efficiently.

Drill Type 3- Seated Drills- Dribbling a basketball while seated in a chair will teach you to have great control over the ball. If you dribble too close to the chair, the ball will bounce off the chair & you lose control of your dribble. Dribble too far away from the chair & you'll lose that fingertip control of the ball & not have the precision you will experience with a sharp focused dribble. These type of drills will really help you "put the ball on a string" & have great control on the court. You should practice this with both your left & right hand while seated. You can even try it with two balls at the same time.

Familiarizing and mastering the rules of the basketball game is essential. The player must be knowledgeable with the game's fundamentals, rules and regulations. Knowing the purpose of the game will direct the player to his goal along with his team.
