When you are working on crate training with your dog or puppy small steps is what works best for them to get used to it. Once he is comfortable walking in and out of the crate, try quietly closing the door and offering him a biscuit through the wires. Start small, like at 10 seconds per approach, and then gradually increase the times. If your puppy starts acting distressed about going into the create, you need to slow things down.

If you are irritated or annoyed about something else, do not start a training session. Dogs learn more when talked to in a firm, yet calm voice.

Do not be too proud to contact a professional for assistance. You may hit a snag in your training and a professional can help get you back on track. A professional dog trainer will give you the tools to correct your training program and help you achieve success.

You should start training your dog at an early age. Training it as a puppy is the best time to do so. Although younger dogs tend to respond to discipline and training more thoroughly, it is still possible to teach an older dog to behave. If you train your dog when he is young, then he will grow up behaving well.

Make sure you give your dog a good workout every day. Make sure your dog is properly fed, given a comfortable corner or bed to sleep and has a good place to run and be active.

Try using a crate to assist you in housebreaking your dog. To make training more effective, consistency is the key. Given time, a crate trained dog is much less likely to have accidents inside.

The key to effective training is to ensure that your dog's activity level remains consistently high. Dogs are not made to sit around. Running, playing and constructive exercise are all essential components of their health and happiness. Take your pet to the dog park or help him learn a new skill that keeps him active, such as playing fetch with tennis balls or catching a Frisbee in mid-flight. Dogs get bored easily and it's your job to keep that from happening, so always provide activities to keep it moving.

Dogs should never be tied up close to each other. The chain from one dog could wrap around the second and the dogs could get hurt trying to get free. If one dog is larger than the other, it could accidentally tangle the cord around the smaller dog's neck, causing it to become unable to breath, and possibly die.

Many people are bitten by dogs because of their fears of that exact thing happening. Fear biting occurs if a dog feels trapped, threatened, or frightened. Be patient, and don't use force when training a pet. This could result in you being bitten. Your dog will be more likely to want to please you.

Your pet will be happy and healthy if you pay a lot of attention to it. Some great activities to provide this mental stimulation could be a long outside walk, a favorite bone, or even a peanut butter-filled toy! If you don't keep your dog entertained, they will make their own fun by wreaking havoc on your belongings.

Now that you have found the information you need, you can use it to start training your dog. Being knowledgeable about the subject will help people start training their dogs.
