Almost every day I get the same question in an emai: “Yes, I would like to know the cost to fix my specific situation.” The issue with this is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to give a definitive cost over the phone or through an email. This is like calling a dentist and asking how much it would cost to fix the problem with your teeth wihtout the Doctor having seen you in person, looking at the problem and diagnosing the issue correctly. Maybe you need braces? Cavity? Rool Canal? Maybe just a cleaning? You must identify the type of issue and solution in order to determine the cost. This is the same with a hair transplant.
If you’re reading this and going “okay, makes sense, so what do I need to know…” keep reading!
1) If you are considering a hair transplant I need to calculate and consider many things. A) How much hair have you lost in cm2 and how much more hair may you lose based upon your age? b) How much donor hair do you have available in one surgery in Cm2 and how many surgeries may you need or have available? C) What type of hair loss do you have? How old are you? Are you Male or Female? All of these factors can make you an excellent candidate or a horrible candidate.
I have to assess all of these factors and then show you photos of the type of result you can excpect – if you are happy with what we can achieve then great. If not, then we have to consider other options. Sometimes, individuals don’t even realize they are not good candidates. I have had many people come to us saying that other clinics would do a hair transplant on them and one look at them and I knew the result would be far poorer than what was explained to them or that we would kill some of their own hair in the process which they were not aware of. Upon explaining these things they realized they should not go through with it.
If you are a good candidate – you can expect a cost of somewhere between $3000-$10000 +HST I WILL SAY IT AGAIN AND AGAIN – A GOOD TRANSPLANT FOR A LARGE AREA OF LOSS WILL COST AT LEAST 7000-10000CAD if not more by a great clinic. I always hear – I want to save money! If you want to save money – don’t eat out, buy a cheaper car, buy a cheaper house, you do not want to save money on a surgical procedure. You want/need to go to the best!
If you are not a good candidate for a hair transplant or we can not give you what you want results wise – we would then have to consider non-surgical hair which would cost around 1500+HST.
If you have a lot of hair but are thinning, we are fortunate enough to exist in a day and age to have real treatments/drugs which can actually help stop future hair loss and even thicken it up. Depending on your age and degree of hair loss – I may suggest you to begin with treatments as well. Treatments can range from $1000-2500+HST however as you can see from the cost of a transplant, it is well worth it to spend a little bit of money and keep your hair and avoid having to do a transplant as it costs far more.
The most important thing is ensuring that you don’t cheap out and go to some place which is charging very little money. If your family member had to have a surgery would you find the cheap place and try to save money? Or would you go to the best you could find to ensure a great result from the surgery. Go to one of the best!
